This page describes, plainly and specifically, what data the MLS Knowledge Platform ("the Platform") collects and why. We don't use third-party advertising trackers or sell data to anyone.
1. Information you provide directly
- Account information: email, name, and password (handled by our authentication provider; we never see or store your raw password) when you sign up.
- Profile information: role, country, exam target and date, bio, and modules of interest, which you provide during onboarding or in Profile settings.
- Study activity: quiz attempts, question responses, and lesson completion, so your dashboard can show progress and weak topics.
- Bookmarks: lessons, publications, and reference items you save.
- Support tickets: the subject, message, page you were on, and (if you're signed out) an email address, when you contact support.
2. Information collected automatically
To understand how the Platform is used and to improve it, we log lightweight, first-party usage analytics, visible in aggregate to admins and never sold or shared with advertisers:
- Page views: the path you visited, a randomly generated visitor identifier (see Cookies below), your account if you're signed in, and the time.
- Engagement signals: how far down a page you scrolled and how long you stayed on it, recorded when you navigate away.
- Click position: the approximate on-page position of clicks (as a fraction of page width/height, not raw pixel coordinates tied to your specific device) and a short description of what was clicked (e.g. a button's label or a link's destination), used to build aggregate "most-clicked" and heatmap views for admins. This is not linked to keystrokes, form contents, or anything you type.
We do not track you across other websites, and we do not use this data for advertising.

Both are essential/functional cookies; we don't use marketing or advertising cookies.
4. How we use this information
- To provide the core features you'd expect: your dashboard, progress tracking, saved resources, and personalized module recommendations.
- To operate support: reviewing and resolving tickets you submit.
- To understand aggregate usage (which pages get used, where people drop off, how long content holds attention) so we can improve the Platform.
- To maintain security: detecting misuse, unusual account activity, or abuse of the ticket/feedback system.
5. Who we share data with
We use Neon (Postgres database hosting) and its authentication service to run the Platform. They process data on our behalf as infrastructure providers, not as independent users of your data. Publications shown on the Platform are fetched from PubMed's public API by subject/topic; this doesn't send your personal data to PubMed. We don't sell personal data or share it with advertisers.
6. Data retention
Account and study data is kept while your account is active. Analytics data (page views, click events) is retained in aggregate for platform-improvement purposes; we may periodically prune old raw event-level records.
7. Your rights
You can review and update your profile information at any time from Profile. To request a copy of your data or full account deletion, contact us through Support; this isn't yet a self-service action.
8. Children's privacy
The Platform is intended for MLS students and professionals and is not directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 16.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Platform changes. Material changes will update the "Last updated" date above.
